Matt Mignanelli

Check out the work of this New York artist Matt Mignanelli. Here’s a statement from the artist:

“My most recent works draw their inspiration from energy,
pattern, light, and emotion. I’m currently exploring the relationship
between nature and structure, which is relayed through my use of
geometric shapes juxtaposed against organic forms. The vivid palette
in which I’m working is influenced by the neon nightscapes that
populate my urban environment. Through my work I am relaying
personal narratives. Each piece is based upon collective memories
stored within my subconscious.

My work strives to portray sophistication and precision in
technique and execution. While maintaining a playful approach
on the surface I strive to examine and provoke reflection on both
environment and imagination.”

The photos below are from a recent exhibition at the Recoat gallery in Glasgow. All of the work he did for the Recoat gallery was brush painted, he didn’t use any masking at all. Enjoy.

Saber’s American Flag/Health Care Reform video

Total crazy story I just found out about via Vandalog. It’s the story of artist Saber and the piece he did using the American flag as a back drop. Well this caused uproar and he explains the full story in the video below.

Refillable Spray Paint Can (RED DOT Green Award)

Here is an idea that is definitely long overdue! A can of paint that can spray any colour. Aside from the supposed ‘green’ connotations, definitely a good thing for graffiti artists in need of a quick get away! Keep an eye our for them dropping in 2010 (a big window I know).

The Ghost Village Project

Here’s an eerie look at a project undertaken by Agents for Change. Titled the Ghost Village Project, 6 artists, Timid, Remi/Rough, System, Stormie Mills, Juice 126, and Derm, turned an unused scottish village on the west coast into an incredible art gallery. Throughout the abandoned village they worked on collaborative pieces as well as their own. Their work is inspired by the bleakness of the place and the video portrays this brilliantly. It is 10mins long and has to be watched. HD. Full Screen. Enjoy.

Check the Ghost Village Project Set on flickr for a longer look at some of the pieces.

Robbo Vs Banksy

So banksy hasn’t done any work for a while and some pictures have come up on the internet of his new work, namely this one below.

ok so that’s all well and good, but it turns out that he has ‘wallpapered’ over a 24 year old piece by rob 484. Of course this has caused uproar in the graffiti community (check the comments on flickr!), but after seeing the piece, robbo put on his wetsuit and retaliated with this…

On Christmas day no less, here’s the original if you’re interested.

could be a contract out on banksy for this one!
